Older Adults Among the Most Likely to Eat Fruits and Vegetables

In 2009, an estimated 32.5% of US adults consumed fruit two or more times per day, and 26.3% consumed vegetables three or more times per day.

The people who ate the most were women (36.1% for fruit two or more times per day and 30.9% for vegetables three or more times per day), persons aged 65 years and older (41.3% and 29.0%), college graduates (36.9% and 32.2%), persons with annual household income greater than $50,000 (32.9% and 29.4%), and persons with a body mass index less than 25.0 (36.6% and 28.3%).
